I am an Interaction Designer for Blackbaud, Inc. The role involves researching the needs of  the non-profits we work with and their clients and then designing user interfaces for to meet those needs. Core responsibilities include:

  • Defining new functionality for software used by nonprofit organizations
  • Working with Product Strategy/Management to understand project scope, project goals, product functionality, and desired features
  • Research client needs and translate business processes into software requirements
  • Design for those defined requirements
  • Communicating software solution needs to programmers and other employees through appropriate design artifacts (mock-ups, Functional Requirement documents, Form & Behavior documents, etc.)
  • Designing software solutions that are easy to use for a wide range of end users and help verify that the final product meets clients needs
  • Collaborating with development team to scope, design, and build software that meets client needs
  • Evaluating client issues and determine appropriate solutions

I love the company, the culture and the work. It is challenging and meaningful in ways that my past jobs have not been.

I think everything I love about my job and my company is summed up in our  mission statement:

Make the world a better place by working with the nonprofit community to improve lives.
